New for 2012-  New Class:
Pro Balloons for Beginners, and Beginner Balloons for Pros!
There's a problem that most balloon twisting workshops face-  You have to instruct a room full of different people, all at different levels.  There are beginners and seasoned pros in the same room, and it is hard to slow down to teach the beginners without making the more experienced twisters feel left out, or teach more advanced techniques to the expert twisters without going over the heads of the beginner or intermediate balloon artists.

Having an "introduction to twisting" class to start off the workshop day is a good idea, but I want to take it a step further.  I wanted a beginner class that didn't just teach the basic twists and simple sword and flower balloons, I wanted a class that would take someone from a raw beginner to a confident twister in one class.  That's quite a challenge, but that's not all-

I also wanted this to be a class that intermediate and advanced twisters would also want to attend, and would benefit just as much from.  I didn't want this to just be another "beginner" class that more experienced twisters would feel like sitting out.  I wanted to add new twists and wrinkles to the basics, and redefine the way you look at balloon twisting!

So I put together a three-hour class that should not only teach newcomers the ins and outs of balloon twisting, but also re-introduce and redefine the basics to advanced and professional twisters as well!  This class covers set-up, working in the field, the basic balloon twists, and choosing your materials.  It also teaches workable, real-world balloon sculptures, not "beginner balloons" that you will grow out of as you move into more advanced designs.  As a bonus, I will also be sharing some items from my upcoming lecture "Scrapbucket Zero"!

The KidShow Sampler Tour dates-

September 9, 2010: Memphis, TN
November 22, 2010: St. Louis, MO
March 13, 2011: Asheville, NC

Three classes will be taught each day at each location.  Class fees are $25 per class, or $60 for all three classes.

Class 1: 1-3pm: Balloongineering (Memphis)- This is a special class, requested by the balloon twisters of Memphis!  Take notes, ask questions, and follow along as we investigate the concept of balloon art and try to discover where creativity comes from.

Class 1: 1-3pm: KidShow Sampler (All other cities)- This class begins by building a modular template for you to perform any kind of kid's magic show.  Staging and equipment will be discussed, followed by a demonstration and discussion of some of my favorite routines.

Class 2: 4-6pm: BalloonCoaching Transitional balloon twisting. You’ve learned the basic 8 or 12 balloon figures, and now you’re stuck in a rut. How do you go from making dogs and flowers to making life-sized balloon people? It seems that the only balloon twisting instruction available is geared towards beginners or professionals. What about those in between? How do you bridge the gap? This class is designed to walk you from basic balloon twisting to the next level. Although this class is planned for the intermediate (or soon-to-be-intermediate) twister, there will be designs and instructions that will benefit all skill levels. Newbies and seasoned pros alike will be able to learn and grow along the way!

Class 3: 7-9pm: BalloonCrafting- Creative add-ons and embellishments to take your balloon art to the next level. Learn how to use glowsticks, pom pom balls, pipe cleaners, stickers, and other tools to make amazing new works of art! Learn new interactive balloon designs like Hoppers, Weebles, and attachables! The interactive balloon toys and games that you learn will set you apart from everyone else! Do you make balloon animals at restaurants? You will learn sculptures that adults will take away from their kids! Watch the family’s food sit untouched on the table while they play with your new balloon designs!
